day ~ 315 {Remember}

Today we remember the soldiers who fought for our freedom and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. We will never forget all you have done, even though the men and women who were there to tell the stories and recall the history first hand are quickly becoming fewer and fewer as years go by. Your legacies will live on  in the lives of your children and the lives of your grandchildren who retell your stories and share them with their children.
This young man was my husbands Grandad. He was 15 when he joined the army, lying of course in order to be in listed. He served in the British Army where he was a front line solider. He was later captured and was a POW in Egypt, somehow he manged to escape and fortunately made it home to his family. I have always been thankful for having known this man. He was brave and incredibly wonderful and today I think of him, more so than other days, as we will truly never know what that time was like, but thank god for him and others like him hopefully we never will.
